Adding subtitles to videos you created or downloaded elsewhere can be a very tedious and busy job, but the MacCaption subtitling program is available to help you make this task a lot easier.

Overview of MacCaption

With platforms like YouTube, BitChute and many more on the internet today, many millions of users are creating unique videos in hopes of attracting an audience. One way to really stand out in a crowd is to add subtitles to your work, so that users can read the captions. For Mac users, MacCaption is a program that makes this process a lot easier. A big part of the problem is that many people who add captions have multiple programs open and it's just a mess. MacCaption allows you to do everything in one program, so it's streamlined and simple to complete the task.

This is a program from CPC and is available for the Mac and Mac OS X. Unfortunately, you're only going to be able to download a trial version, which has very limited features. You will have to purchase the entire program if you want to actually use the full program.

How MacCaption Works

When you first open this program and give it a look, it can come across as a bit complicated. However, everything really lines up once you add in a video and look at the right-side menu. What happens here is that MacCaption automatically breaks the entire video down into time intervals. This allows you to create actual captions, which play per a time stamp, and not just a large text file. So you load the video in and you will see the times on the right side, and then you just type in every sentence as it comes.

The cool thing here, that makes it a lot easier on users, is that the text boxes follow along with the video. So say you're at 1:21 and type that text. The program is going to jump down for you, so you don't have to scroll and follow along, so you will automatically end up at 1:30, for example. This is what makes it so easy.

MacCaption Features

There aren't a ton of features that come along with MacCaption. It's all a pretty straightforward captioning, subtitling tool. You can control the size and font and boldness of your captions, however. So if you need to emphasize something or Italicize a certain point, it's easy with the program's features.

Another cool feature is that you can set the program to auto save after certain time intervals, so you won't have to remember to manually save. Just know that you won't be able to load up too many types of video files here. MP4, AVI, FLV, etc, are not accepted; only QuickTime and DV formats work.
